WE’RE BACK IN THE FELLOWSHIP HALL!

We give thanks for quick work by the structural engineer and by Nelson Orr and his crew.

Support posts have been installed in our Fellowship Hall to support the weakened trusses above. We may now access the building via the parking lot (Southside) doors and use the space again.

Adult class changes for this Sunday:

COVENANT-BUILDERS (When Helping Hurts) will move from the Armer’s home to our new house which is being cleaned up on tomorrow’s work day. Please do not park on Columbia Avenue. We want to be good neighbors. Enter the house from the backyard only. Follow the CPC Playground walk-way which is to the left of the church south steps. Just go across the back yard to the patio doors on the rear of the house. We’ll move into the family room chairs and something for the teacher to write on, plus put a coffee pot in the kitchen. This house/classroom will be a work in progress, but we’re glad to have more options now! [Come help on the workday tomorrow.]

We are making this move for Covenant-Builders because we have the space and can now allow access to the church kitchen on Sunday mornings and can serve coffee and other beverages from the kitchen counter.

YOUNG COUPLES will move back to the east end of the Fellowship Hall.

OASIS will move from the church office back to their previous room.

MEN’S CLASS can move back to the Parlor.

Women's Book Club "Lit and Latte"

Book Club

The book club meets on the second Sunday of each month (unless that date conflicts with a holiday).

At the beginning of each "book year" the members nominate books that they would like to read from different book categories. We choose two books from History; two Classics; one Humor; two Christian; one Mystery; two Fiction; and two Biography. We vote for our choices at the first meeting. Then, we read one book each month and meet for coffee and conversation.

Take a fabulous group of women. Add a really good book. Mix in stimulating conversation.

The result: Lit and Latte, CPC women’s monthly book club!

For more information, contact Lynn Miller.

These are the books we are reading for 2010.

  • September 12: Heart of Prayer by Jerram Barrs
  • October 10: Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
  • November 14: Sea Biscuit by Laura Hillenbrand
  • December 12: Dave Barry Slept Here by Dave Barry
  • January 9: Broken Trail by Alan Geoffrion
  • February 13: George Washington’s Sacred Fire by Peter Lillback
  • March 13: Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott
  • April 10: A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters
  • May 15: Orthodoxy by G. K. Chesterton (May 8 is Mother's Day)
  • June 12: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

We have an open meeting, and would love for anyone who wants to attend to please do so.
